Stuff that works for me.

I've always been kind of a freak about lip stuff. First it was Chapstick, which only came in one scent/flavor back in the dark ages. Kinda sweet and waxy. Then Carmex, which is ADDICTIVE. Seriously. Then the Avon stuff that smells like their good hand lotion Vitamoist. Now, it's Nivea A Kiss of Flavor Passion Fruit Tinted Lip Care. Oooooh baby. Funny thing, I started using it, loving it, and gave it to several of my sisters and friends. Now they are all addicted too. Then I find out my friend Michelle in Utah is addicted. But like everything else that I love, they seem to have stopped making it. First it was available at lots of stores, over with the Nivea lotion, then I could only find it in Walgreens, and now I can't find it in any store at all. I did find it on Amazon and ordered a 6 pack. How sad. I rue the day. What does that mean anyway? Rue the day. Hang on, gotta Wikipedia it... OK it's from Middle English and means, "To feel regret, remorse, or sorrow for."

If you can find this stuff, STOCKPILE it. It's that good. It feels good, smells good, tastes good, plus, it has a really light tint. I didn't think it was much of a tint, until I put it on my dad when he was in the hospital (his lips were dry) and it turned them very pink LOL. I would have left it on, but my sister made me wipe it off. Poop on her. I bet the nurses would have thought it was cute.

As a teenager I had pretty bad acne. Starting on the birth control pill in my 20s helped that a lot. Now that I'm 48 my skin is pretty OK. I have a few scars, but I haven't seen a real zit in years. One problem I do have now though is whiteheads. I get them around my nose and chin. But late last year I found one in my ear! I couldn't see it of course, but I could sure feel it and it felt HUGE. My sister confirmed for me that it was a whitehead. So I started some research online to see what would clear it up. There wasn't a lot of information on what would do the trick, but I did manage to find something that mentioned two ingredients that would work - Resorcinol and Sulfer. And the only over the counter product I found that has that combination? Clearasil StayClear® Adult Acne Treatment Cream. Only that formulation of Clearasil works. I had to shop around to find it. Walmart and CVS didn't have it. Walgreens did. I started applying it twice a day, morning and night. It has a little bit of a sulfer smell which isn't very pleasant. The nights I put it on my chin, I could smell it after I went to bed. But this stuff WORKS like a champ. After using it religiously in my ear for three weeks, one day I went to apply it, and I felt this small dry area in my ear, and when I scrached it lightly, that was the end of the whitehead. It was GONE. And the big, deep whitehead on my chin simply disappeared. This stuff rocks. So if you're plagued by whiteheads and don't want to squeeze or pay to have them professionally removed, get Clearasil StayClear® Adult Acne Treatment Cream.

Mmmmm, lemony. Mmmmmm, orangey. Mmmmmm limey. If you like citrus flavors, especially in your water, you'll love True Lemon, True Orange, and True Lime. It's crystalized juice and doesn't include any sugar, and it comes in little packets so it's easy to carry. If you like to squeeze a little juice in your water, this is for you. And believe me, it REALLY tastes like the real thing. You can even sign up to get your own free sample. And get this! They have recipes! How cool is that?!? Lime seared scallops? Yeah, I'm hungry now. Try this stuff!

I love these Cherokee t-shirts available from Target. They're really soft and thick 100% cotton, and they're tagless, which is just genius. I really like how stretchy and thick they are. It makes them so comfy, like your favorite jammies.

I favor the v-neck style, and they also come in crew neck. In the winter, they also had long sleeve and 3/4 sleeve. Plus they're pretty dang inexpensive. AND the colors are good. AND they wash well. No special care needed. I even stick them in the dryer, and they seem to get EVEN SOFTER. Go now, and buy yourself some of these tees.

It's well documented (see below) that I love Dove products. My new fave is Dove Pro-age Body Wash. This stuff makes my skin feel really soft, smooth, and moisturized. Really! My skin feels moisturized! I haven't found many body washes that can do that. I'm curious to see if it keeps my skin feeling moisturized in the winter. We'll have to wait and see.

My only complaint (and that's pushing it) is the scent. It's a little too perfume-y for me. Not bad, and not strong, but still too perfume-y for me. I like my scents more soap-and-water smelling. But I guess you can't have everything. I'll settle for soft, smooth skin!

My new favorite thing: Caltrate 600 Plus Chewables. It's so much easier to chew up three of the tablets every day. I hate those big ole horse pills you normally have to take for calcium. These are kinda like giant Sweetarts, only not quite so tasty. Plus they have vitamin D and minerals.

My sister Jan just wrote me about one of her favorite things, so I'm sharing:

Hey I love it when you share cool things with me, so I am letting you know about White Stag brand turtlenecks from Walmart. I live in turtlenecks from September to May, so they are very important to me! I bought one about 2 months ago and have washed and worn it several times. It hasn't shrunk, faded or pilled up. They come in several colors, they have spandex in them (how did we live without that for so long??) and they run slightly large so I have a med (8-10), and are a nice length. They cost less than $10 each.

Turtlenecks that I have had before shrunk in the neck (choke city), in the sleeves or in the tail. There's nothing worse than a garment that is supposed to keep you warm but when you move around it exposes bare skin! I've bought from Lord and Taylor and last year from Eddie Bauer and all those turtlenecks have something wrong with them after being washed and worn.
